Thury Castle in Várpalota
The Thury Castle in Várpalota, with its regular floor plan characteristic of the knightly era, four corner towers, and robust structure, took its current form after multiple reconstructions while preserving the stylistic features typical of defence fortresses.
The building currently serves as an exhibition space and event center, with several beautifully restored halls hosting permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as numerous cultural events. During individual and group tours, visitors learn about the castle, various historical periods, Thury György, the captain of the castle, and his glorious victories against the Turks.
The castle offers interesting and entertaining programs for both children and adults, including historical archery, a knightly triathlon, and an escape room.
