About us
The past
Our family business was founded by our father, Andor Ritter, in 1991 when he renovated a traditional house in Székesfehérvár and opened a 40-seat tavern.
As more guests visited us over the years, we started expanding the small restaurant. Every member of our six-person family actively participated in the work. We designed and executed almost everything ourselves, as we have an architect, an interior designer, and hospitality and tourism experts among us. Even our collected antique furniture was restored by our team members.
The present
Thanks to more than 30 years of continuous development, we now operate as a 45-room hotel with a nearly 300-seat restaurant, terrace, indoor and outdoor wellness facilities, a children’s play area, and a PlayStation room. The uniqueness of our venue lies in the fact that all our rooms and the restaurant’s private rooms have different atmospheres, furniture, and color schemes. We strive to preserve valuable, old furniture for future generations through ongoing maintenance. Our goal is to ensure that both hotel and restaurant guests leave satisfied and return later on. We are delighted that many of our guests honor us with their trust year after year, allowing us to greet each other as familiar faces and friends.

As always, we plan to improve and renovate every year.
Each year, some of our rooms are completely renovated. Our plans for the coming years include continuous energy efficiency improvements, opening a new event hall, fully renovating the Gerendás Hall, and upgrading the mechanical systems of our parking lot and outdoor wellness area. We hope that in a few years, the third generation of our family will also take part in the business.

Milestones

Our parents purchase the one-room, dilapidated apartments at Szárcsa u. 1.
They transform the building into a traditional farm house.
We are open! Szárcsa Tavern launches as a 40-seat restaurant with a hot kitchen open 24/7.
The second terrace and upstairs bar are completed.
Gerendás Hall opens.
The first eight rooms and the Covered Terrace (now called Brick Hall) are completed.
The new terrace opens and the paved parking lot is completed.
We expand with 22 more rooms.
The reception area, the Green Salon (now Blue Salon), and indoor wellness area are completed.
We add another 12 rooms.
An outdoor wellness area is created.
The White Hall opens.
The new kitchen (the seventh) is completed, and we open rooms with jacuzzis and the loft bedrooms.
The Gerenda Foundation is established.
We replace our nine oldest rooms with family suites, install an elevator, and open the children’s play area and Xbox (now PlayStation) room.
All our rooms become non-smoking.
We renovate the Green Salon (now Blue Salon).
The Brick Hall is fully renovated, and we introduce selective waste collection throughout the hotel.
A new breakfast area is created.
Due to COVID-19, we remain closed for a total of nine months.
We open our new indoor wellness area.
Installation of 307 solar panels, which cover 20% of our electricity consumption.
The Xbox room is transformed into a PlayStation room.
Our plans include creating a new event hall and remodeling the parking lot.
