Saint Stephen's Cathedral
Built on the site of Grand Prince Géza's palace, the church dedicated to King Saint Stephen was elevated to cathedral status when the Diocese of Székesfehérvár was established. Constructed between 1758 and 1768, it partially stands on the foundations of the medieval Gothic Basilica of St Peter and St Paul, and it was in part funded by public donations.
The complete archaeological excavation and renovation of the church were completed in 2022, followed by the restoration of the surrounding park and the statue of Grand Prince Géza in 2024.
In the crypt, visitors can see the stone sarcophagi of King Béla III and his wife, Anna of Antioch, bearing the funerary imprints of their bodies.
