Palotaváros Open-Air Museum and Rác Street
At the edge of the Palotaváros lies a small street preserving the 17th-18th century atmosphere of Rácváros, once home to artisans and craftsmen. This street, transformed into an open-air museum and awarded the Europa Nostra Prize, showcases the life of the Serbs (Rascians) who settled here.
In the middle of the street stands a Serbian Orthodox church, an important historical monument. It is a Baroque-style, single-nave, single-tower building dedicated to the memory of the birth of St John the Baptist.
The house at Rác Street 11 now hosts the Memories of Palotaváros exhibition, where visitors can see the workshop of a local hat-making dynasty, along with tools, objects, and documents related to traditional Palotaváros crafts and trades.
Opening hours:- 1 April - 31 October (Tuesday to Sunday) 10 AM – 6 PM
- 1 November - 31 March CLOSED
