Gorsium Archaeological Park and Open-Air Museum
Explore the remains of the Gorsium-Heculia Roman imperial city located in Tác, just a few kilometers from Székesfehérvár. From the mid-1st century, a Roman military fortification controlled the crossroads and the ford over the Sárvíz River. By the early 2nd century, a city was built on the site of the military camp, which became the center of Lower Pannonia. Visitors can embark on a real-time journey through the archaeological park, where new and fascinating elements were added to the area over the centuries. There is a banquet hall, a port, a baptistery basilica, a swimming pool, and military barracks.
With the help of a guidebook or an audio guide, visitors can explore the streets, restored buildings, and interiors. The ruins are surrounded by a Mediterranean-style park with Roman stone monuments and a Greco-Roman-style theater.
