Cycling near the city - Lake Velence Loop and the Budapest-Balaton Cycle Path
The bike tour around Lake Velence is a classic loop with minimal elevation, plenty of rest stops, and interesting sights. The entire loop can be completed in about 3.5 hours at a comfortable pace and with just a few breaks, making it an ideal program for families, beginner cyclists, and those looking to exercise.
Along the cycle path, there are several bars, restaurants and beaches, so you can spice up the stops with a lángos (a type of fried dough), a gyros, or a fish soup, and even take a quick dip.
Bicycles can be rented for a discounted price at the hotel, and frequent trains depart from the nearby train station directly to the southern shore of Lake Velence.
The Budapest-Balaton bike path (also called BuBa) was completed in 2022 and is a new tourist route full of sights and beautiful landscapes. It passes through Székesfehérvár. The easier section of the path leads from the edge of the city toward Lake Balaton, passing through the towns of Szabadbattyán, Polgárdi, Füle, and Balatonfőkajár, arriving in Balatonakarattya.
The bike path connects to the Balaton bike loop near the railway station in Akarattya, from where more experienced cyclists can continue along the picturesque shores of Lake Balaton.
